Laguna Beach Can’t Catch Up With El Segundo

EL SEGUNDO — El Segundo running backs Joey Bolder and Pat Cappasela rushed for a combined 180 yards and two touchdowns as the Eagles beat Laguna Beach, 34-10, Friday night at El Segundo High.
Bolder rushed for 92 yards in 13 carries and Cappasela 88 yards in 10 as El Segundo rolled up 368 yards total offense.
Laguna Beach (1-1) trailed, 14-10, at halftime. But El Segundo (1-1) broke it open in the second half, scoring 20 consecutive points.
El Segundo opened the scoring with four minutes 52 seconds remaining in the first quarter when quarterback Chuck Burke hit Zeandre Davis with a 59-yard touchdown pass.
Laguna Beach tied it, 7-7, when Pat Wood completed seven consecutive passes, including a 26-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Shane Loidolt on fourth down..
Laguna Beach had the ball on El Segundo’s 12-yard line in the second quarter. But a pass by Wood was intercepted by Zeandre Davis, preserving El Segundo’s halftime lead.
