Los Angeles Baptist’s Second Half Overwhelms Calvary Chapel

COSTA MESA — Zack Hernandez completed 18 of 33 passes for 310 yards as visiting Los Angeles Baptist defeated Calvary Chapel, 27-3, Friday at Orange Coast College.
Hernandez completed touchdown passes of 37 and 29 yards to receiver Jim Romero. Senior Matt Hernandez caught a 31-yard pass for a touchdown during the first quarter. Romero had a game-high nine receptions for 166 yards.
The Knights (2-0) drove 85 yards in six plays on their first possession, which culminated when the Hernandezes hooked up in the end zone. The Eagles answered with a 25-yard field goal from junior Aaron Fountain and trailed, 7-3, at the half.
But the visitors scored on the second plays of each of the final two quarters to pull away from Calvary Chapel (0-2).
Junior Trevor Morris led the Eagles with a game-high 73 yards in 14 carries.
