Goodby, ‘Larry’: CBS Show is Fall Season’s 1st Casualty

The new television season doesn’t officially start until Monday, but one new show has gotten the ax already.
CBS’ “The Trouble With Larry,” which had an early premiere Aug. 25, is the fall’s first casualty after three airings, network officials confirmed Thursday. The series, which starred Bronson Pinchot as a man who disappeared for several years and then returned to his family, was last seen Sept. 8 and presumably will not air again.
Also bumped from the CBS lineup was another comedy, “Tall Hopes,” which also premiered Aug. 25. That show had only been scheduled for a limited run as a summer tryout.
Both series foundered near the bottom of the Nielsen ratings during their brief runs.
CBS did not immediately announce replacements for the two shows.
