Gibby Loses Eligibility Bid After Transfer

Sophomore Patricia Gibby, who finished sixth in the 1992 Southern Section Division I cross-country championships for Thousand Oaks High, has been denied a hardship appeal to gain eligibility at Westlake.
Gibby, who lives in Thousand Oaks, is ineligible to compete at the varsity level in either cross-country or track for the Warriors during the 1993-94 school year but can compete for the junior varsity.
“We’re disappointed with the decision, but we knew it was kind of a longshot,” said Bruce Gibby, Patricia’s father.
Neither Bruce nor Patricia Gibby gave reasons for the transfer, but sources said that Bruce Gibby disagreed with the way his daughter was being trained by Thousand Oaks Coach Jack Farrell. Farrell declined to comment.
