PALMDALE — A 51-year-old Lancaster man died early Tuesday when he ran a red light and his vehicle collided with a truck at a downtown intersection, authorities said.
Vincent Modica was taken to Palmdale Hospital Medical Center where he died from his injuries at 6:40 a.m., a hospital spokeswoman said.
The accident happened as Modica drove south on Sierra Highway and ran a red light at the intersection with Palmdale Boulevard, said Deputy Sheriff Ed Grantham.
James Tippit, 40, of Little Rock, Ark., was driving the truck west on Palmdale Boulevard at the time of the accident but was not hurt and was not charged, Grantham said.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office is expected to perform an autopsy to determine whether alcohol was a factor in the fatal collision, he added.
