France Threatens Veto Over U.S. Film Imports

PARIS — France opened a second front in its offensive against efforts to liberalize world trade Tuesday, threatening to veto a GATT agreement this time if it removes French barriers to U.S. films and TV soap operas.
Culture Minister Jacques Toubon was quoted as saying France would refuse to sign any GATT accord that dismantled limits on imports of American movies and television programs.
