A maid cleaning a room at the Westlake Hyatt was bound with plastic cord, gagged and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash Monday, Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives said.
The robbery occurred just before 1 p.m. inside the hotel at 880 S. Westlake Blvd. The victim, Maria Ochoa, 34, told police she was cleaning a room when someone attacked her from behind and placed a bag over her head.
Ochoa was then forced to the ground and her hands and feet were bound with plastic cord. Her attacker then took money from her, saying nothing during the robbery, deputies said.
After the assailant left, Ochoa called for help on the room telephone. She was taken to Westlake Hospital where she was checked and then released.
The investigation is continuing, deputies said.
