FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Eatery Raises Money for New Gym Floor

Lamppost Pizza is pitching in to help raise money to replace the floor of Fountain Valley High School’s gymnasium, which was vandalized beyond repair in July.
Mike Flynn, the restaurant’s owner, said 50% of all purchases this week will be donated to the school. The fund-raising event, dubbed “FOG”--Fix Our Gym--began Friday and continues through this Friday.
“A lot of our business comes from that gym, and we want to see that gym repaired,” said Flynn, who operates the restaurant with his wife, Joy.
Flynn said no discounts or coupons will be honored during the weeklong fund-raiser. He also said drivers are donating their time to deliver pizzas.
The vandalism caused $200,000 in damage. Insurance will pay for most of the cost of replacing the gym’s hardwood floor. But the school must raise the $25,000 deductible.
Flynn said the restaurant is holding the fund-raiser to show its support to the school.
“We’re so community-minded, and we rely on the high school,” he said. “They give so much to us. This is our way of giving back to them.”
Lamppost Pizza is at 10130 Warner Ave., east of Brookhurst Street. For more information, call (714) 968-6128.
