Cross-Country Star Gibby Now at Westlake

Patricia Gibby, who finished sixth in last year’s Southern Section Division I cross-country championships as a Thousand Oaks High freshman, has transferred to Westlake.
Gibby’s father, Bruce, said Wednesday that his daughter transferred because she “wanted to be in a program where the emphasis was on what the program could do for the athlete, not what the athlete could do for the program.”
Although section rules require an athlete to lose a year of varsity eligibility when transferring without changing residences--as Gibby has done--Bruce Gibby said that Westlake has applied for a hardship waiver with the section office.
Thousand Oaks Coach Jack Farrell declined comment.

Eddie Miller, one of the best sophomore players in the area, has enrolled at Chatsworth High. He will not be eligible, however, unless he moves into the Chatsworth attendance area or obtains a hardship waiver from the City Section.
Miller, a 6-foot-7 forward, played last season at Notre Dame but failed to meet academic requirements.
