ASUNCION, Paraguay — Police raided a home owned by a cult that has been accused in neighboring Argentina of child abuse and rape, private Radio Nanduti reported Wednesday.
The raid Tuesday came on the heels of a crackdown on the sect in Buenos Aires, where the cult is known as the Family. Members there face charges of rape, child abuse and kidnaping.
The Paraguayan branch of the cult, an offshoot of a U.S. group called the Children of God, is under investigation on similar charges, Radio Nanduti said.
