A man in a stolen car led police on a two-hour chase Wednesday from Palm Springs to Santa Ana, where patrol cars finally blocked him, authorities said.
Thomas Arthur Boggs, 29, of Santa Ana had gone to Palm Springs with friends, but had an argument with them and wanted to go home, said California Highway Patrol Officer Angel Johnson.
About 10:30 a.m., he stole an unattended 1978 Cadillac at a gas station and was spotted by the owner, said Palm Springs Police Sgt. Mike Hanavan.
Police chased him onto the westbound San Bernardino Freeway, where CHP cars joined the chase that reached 100 m.p.h. at times, officers said.
In Santa Ana, near Walnut Street and Daisy Avenue, a CHP car clipped the Cadillac, causing it to spin, and then blocked it, Johnson said.
