Firm Will Launch Bus Service to LAX

The owners of a local shuttle company plan to launch the county’s second bus service between Ventura County and Los Angeles International Airport.
Ventura County Shuttle, a 10-year-old Ventura-based business, will begin making trips between Oxnard Airport and LAX by Nov. 1. The company already operates a more expensive, door-to-door van service to LAX.
“There is clearly a need for an affordable and convenient way to get down to LAX,” said Clayton Vail, co-owner of the business. “We saw that this kind of service was being successfully done in Santa Barbara and Marin County and thought it would work well here.”
The other bus service to LAX is offered by Great American Stageline.
Great American Stageline runs 13 round-trips to LAX each day with stops in Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Woodland Hills. The new shuttle service will be nonstop and will make seven round-trips to LAX a day.
The new service will cost $15 prepaid for a one-way trip. Great American Stageline charges $20 from Ventura, $19 from Oxnard and less from the other cities as they get progressively closer to Los Angeles.
Vail said the ability to park overnight made Oxnard Airport an ideal launching point for the new shuttle. “The idea was to make this as convenient as possible,” she said. “Business travelers can just leave their car in the protected lot in the morning, rather than have someone drop them off.”
The bus service will be limited to 20 people per trip and will take about an hour and 15 minutes.
