No Consensus on Elevated Train

* Elevated-train advocates, such as Don Schultz (Valley Commentary, Aug. 29) represent only a small, vocal minority within the Valley.
To say that Valley residents reached a “consensus” in 1990 for an elevated train over the Ventura Freeway, with less than 10% of the Valley residents voting, is the ultimate in hyperbole.
The many thousands of residents living along the Ventura Freeway, who would be adversely affected by the elevated train, and the hundreds of thousands of other Valley residents who want efficient subway service, represent the real consensus.
Gerald and Myrna Silver are to be complimented on their lucid article, which clearly presented all the facts justifying a subway system and completely demolished the “pie-in-the-sky” fallacious arguments of the minuscule group of elevated train boosters who stand in the way of mass transportation progress.
