Reed Travel group to Buy Official Airline Guide: Reed Travel Group said it will acquire Oak Brook, Ill.-based Official Airline Guides Inc. for $417 million in cash.The company, a subsidiary of Britain’s Reed International PLC, said in a statement that it negotiated the deal with Maxwell Communications Corp. PLC, the former flagship of the late publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell, who died in late 1991. Official Airline Guides, the publisher of the Desktop Flight and Pocket Flight guides, is a leading provider of airline schedules and hotel information and related services to business travellers. Reed’s subsidiary, ABC, provides similar services in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
