Has USC Discriminated Against Women’s Coach?
The audacity of Marianne Stanley to file a frivolous lawsuit against USC because she isn’t getting the same salary as George Raveling. Ask any sports fan who George Raveling is and most everyone including UCLA fans will answer that he is a highly respected basketball coach who has been a great credit to USC and the human race.
But Marianne Stanley? Most USC fans don’t know who she is. Her basketball team can’t even beat a high school boys’ team, much less a college team. Why should she be paid more than a high school coach? She is overpaid to begin with.

It’s bad enough we sports fans have to hear professional athletes whine and cry about being underpaid. But now comes Marianne Stanley, USC women’s basketball coach.
You mean to tell me, that in this economic day and age, particularly in Southern California, a yearly average of $64,000 over a four-year period is not pretty lucrative? And being offered $90,000 a year, plus $6,000 annual housing allowance (which Stanley reportedly rejected) is still not lucrative enough?
Attention Marianne Stanley: I’m sure there are many laid-off aerospace workers, auto workers and other people, especially this $32,000-a-year working stiff, who would find not only is USC’s offer more than lucrative enough, we would even gladly accept your old salary.
