SANTA MONICA : Ex-Teacher Gets Life in Murder of Accountant

Former Santa Monica teacher Stanley Alan Hershey, 49, was sentenced Thursday to life in prison without possibility of parole for the 1989 murder of a retired Glendale accountant whose body has never been found.
Hershey was convicted June 17 in Shasta County Superior Court of killing Gordon T. Johnson, 62, who disappeared at Shasta Lake while touring in his motor home. The sentence took into account special circumstances of lying in wait and murder for financial gain.
