HOUSTON — The mysterious death of a 17-year-old Houston girl was solved Friday when police arrested her teen-age boyfriend, who said he accidentally shot her while the two plotted to murder her parents.
When Mary Hughes was found dead Wednesday in the back yard of her parents’ home in Houston’s affluent River Oaks area, police speculated that she had stumbled into a burglary and was shot once in the neck by a possible intruder.
But police said Friday that her 13-year-old boyfriend admitted to accidentally shooting her while they waited in the back yard to murder her parents when they came home.
