LOS ANGELES : Public Urged to Leave Fireworks to the Pros

Fire officials on Thursday urged people to attend professional fireworks shows this weekend and provided phone numbers that residents may call for information on such displays.
“Traditionally, the holiday has meant family get-togethers, and for many, fireworks have been a way of celebrating the holiday,” said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Gregory West. “Every year, though, fireworks cause serious fires and injuries, and all fireworks are illegal in the city.”
