FILLMORE : Man Sentenced to Year in Molestation
- Share via
A Fillmore man was sentenced Thursday to one year in County Jail and five years probation for molesting a 16-year-old girl over a number of years.
John Phillip Gaede, 46, received the jail time after Ventura County Superior Court Judge Lawrence Storch suspended a 12-year prison sentence. Storch also stayed the payment of a $5,000 restitution fine pending successful completion of probation.
Gaede pleaded guilty to four counts of child molestation in May, after the district attorney’s office agreed to dismiss seven other counts.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Patrice D. Koenig recommended the jail term and probation after discussing the case with the victim’s family, she told Storch on Thursday.
“It’s one of your more grievous, longstanding . . . cases,” Storch told defense attorney James M. Farley. “It would appear your client is a pedophile.”
Storch said he suspended the prison term with “reluctance,” but did so on Koenig’s recommendation.
