Glendora Approves Deal With Wal-Mart

The Glendora City Council has approved an agreement with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. that paves the way for the retailer to build a store at Lone Hill Avenue and Auto Centre Drive.
Wal-Mart is in the process of buying a 14-acre lot from the city’s redevelopment agency, which owns the land and plans to sell it for about $1.8 million less than what the city paid for it. The city made the land deal to gain an estimated $350,000 or more in annual sales tax revenue and more than $100,000 a year in property tax revenue.
The 125,000-square-foot store is scheduled to open by next summer.
