The Los Angeles Unified School District is seeking San Fernando Valley residents to serve on a panel representing the interests of Pacific and Asian-Americans in the school system.
Parents, students and other community members are invited to apply for one of four vacancies on the district’s Asian/Pacific American Education Commission. The 29-member commission is one of seven in the district that fill ombudsman roles for various groups represented by employees and students.
Panelists serve two-year terms on a voluntary basis, with evening meetings held monthly. Commissioners are also expected to attend various school functions and serve as a liaison to the community.
Those interested in applying or obtaining more information should contact Carmencita Davino, the commission director, at (213) 625-6796. The application deadline is July 30.
