Lynwood : Acting City Manager Hired for Permanent Position

Acting City Manager Faustin Gonzales was given a permanent contract during a special City Council meeting Friday. He replaces Laurence H. Adams Sr., who was fired earlier last week.

Gonzales has been in and out of the city manager’s job since spring, 1992, when then-City Manager Michael Herriot abruptly quit. Gonzales held the city manager’s position until Adams was hired six months ago.

Gonzales, who will be paid $96,000 a year, has worked for Lynwood since 1990, when he was hired as project manager in the city manager’s office. Gonzales has been acting city manager since Adams was put on leave in May.

Council members Armando Rea and Evelyn Wells were not present at the special meeting. Wells has been out on a work-related disability since early May.
