State Awards Grant for Electric School Buses: The California Energy Commission approved the grant of $192,700 to Calstart, a public-private consortium, to help with production of the nation’s first battery-powered school buses. Calstart said two 67-passenger electric buses will be built by Oxnard-based APS Systems and Bus Manufacturing USA Inc. of Santa Barbara for the Goleta and Santa Maria-Bonita school districts.
