HOLLYWOOD : Walk of Fame to Get 30 New Names in Expansion
- Share via
Tourists in Hollywood come out in the daytime to look at the stars. Now, the sidewalk galaxy known as the Hollywood Walk of Fame is growing.
Another 148 stars will be added on Hollywood Boulevard between Sycamore and La Brea avenues. Rather than 148 blank stars, however, the Walk of Fame Committee has decided to induct 30 new names.
The names include Spanky McFarlane, Mamie Van Doren, John Garfield, Paul Newman, The Dead End Kids, Sidney Poitier, Clint Eastwood, The Beatles, Irving Berlin, Thelonious Monk, Sam Cooke and Lloyd Bridges.
Also on the list are Katy Jurado, Cleavon Little, Terry Moore, Signe Hasso, Vera-Ellen, Frances Dee, Pearl Bailey, Stevie Wonder, Dan Haggerty, Richard Webb, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Jerry Herman and George Fisher.
The star extension project will be completed next month and a mass dedication ceremony is planned sometime this summer. Nearly 2,000 stars have already been dedicated along the famous walkway spanning Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street.
