Nation IN BRIEF : WISCONSIN : Dam Section Breaks Away; Hundreds Flee

A 50-foot section of a dam on the rain-swollen Black River broke away, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of residents of a flooded summer resort area, officials said. There were no injuries reported. The area in the west-central part of Wisconsin is host to thousands of summer visitors and campers. Many parks were flooded after four straight days of rain. Dozens of homes in Black River Falls, the county seat, were also evacuated.
