$5 Charge to Avoid Hit on Libraries
A Times story (“All the Talk in Libraries Is of Cuts in Hours,” June 13) mentioned that Orange County libraries were going to have to close on specified days due to a $3.8-million budget shortfall. They also mentioned that there are 800,000 cardholders in the library system.
How about a $5 charge or donation per cardholder? An easy multiplication sum comes up with $4 million. (OK, I know there has to be a sliding scale and so on, but it’s a start.) Just tell me where to send my money.
