America West Cuts Discount Fares: America West Airlines cut discount fares by up to 30% for travel through Sept. 30. The non-refundable tickets must be purchased by July 15, require a Saturday night stay and have other restrictions. The lowest prices are available for travel on off-peak days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Under the sale, an off-peak Los Angeles-New York round trip costs $401, or 27% less than the regular discount fare. Other airlines are expected to match the sale.
