Michael A. Piraino has been named senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer of Chatsworth-based Syncor International Corp.
Piraino succeeds Michael Mikity, who will remain with Syncor as a vice president in charge of management information systems, human resources and Syncor’s strategic management programs.
Prior to the appointment, Piraino was senior vice president and chief financial officer of Total Pharmaceutical Care Inc.
* Mattel Inc. has promoted John Phippen to senior vice president and chief information officer, responsible for corporate systems worldwide.
Phippen, 48, was most recently senior vice president of information systems. He joined El Segundo-based Mattel in 1985 as vice president and controller for its Operations Division.
* Daniel P. Shields has been named president and chief executive of TMM (formerly Total Multimedia) in Thousand Oaks.
Prior to joining TMM, Shields, 34, was manager of plans and business development for Contel Federal Systems.
TMM makes Softvideo technology and tools for video capture, editing and multimedia authoring.
* Kenneth W. Gerstner has joined Farr Co. as vice president of finance and administration, chief financial officer and secretary, the El Segundo-based firm said.
Since 1988, Gerstner, 49, worked for Archive Corp., first as an assistant corporate controller and for the last three years as controller for the Technology Division.
