Space is filling quickly for the Mid-Valley Family YMCA’s summer camp, which includes arts and crafts, sports, music and at least two field trips and a different theme each week.
The camp, open to children entering kindergarten through ninth grade, will begin July 5 and continue weekdays until school starts.
Planned events include trips to Disneyland, Magic Mountain, the beach and other local recreation areas, overnight camping in the Hollywood Hills, a YMCA “Olympics” and daily games, workshops and other activities, said program director David Newman.
Camps will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mid-Valley YMCA and the following elementary schools: Chandler and Kittridge in Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks and Dixie Canyon in Sherman Oaks, and Lassen in North Hills. Supervision also will be provided from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m., at no extra charge.
The camp costs $80 per week, with some scholarships available.
