WOOING BUSINESS: We don’t get to vote, but Ventura County has a big stake in the Los Angeles mayor’s race, says Steve Rubenstein, president of the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and a Republican. . . . If the more liberal Michael Woo defeats Richard Riordan, Rubenstein said, “The flight of business from Los Angeles will continue, and that’s good for us.” In response, County Democratic Chairman Hank Starr said Woo will attack the causes of crime and decay that prompt companies to leave. The L.A. campaign holds a lesson, Starr said: “Politics by insult is something we should avoid.”
