MOURNING IN O.C.: Condolences poured in Monday (E1) for relatives of philanthropist Athalie R. Clarke, who died last weekend. . . . Clarke, widow of both rancher James Irvine III and federal judge Thurmond Clarke, was remembered as a UC Irvine booster and GOP activist. . . . “Athalie Clarke’s loss is an enormous one for our nation,” said former President Richard Nixon, a longtime friend. “Her vision, energy, and generosity transformed the face of Orange County, and Orange County cannot be the same without her.”
