ALISO VIEJO — Sheriff’s Department investigators said Sunday that they are investigating as a homicide the shooting death of a resident of an apartment complex here.
The investigation began Saturday when deputies received a report “of a possible suicide by gunshot” at the St. Moritz apartments, 23411 Summerfield. The shooting occurred about 3 p.m., a department spokesman said.
The spokesman identified the victim as “a man in his mid-20s.” The victim’s name was being withheld Sunday night pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators cordoned off a section of the apartment complex and were continuing their investigation late Sunday, collecting items from the victim’s apartment.
An autopsy is scheduled for this morning. The spokesman declined to reveal other details about the shooting.
