Lake Forest’s Garner Tied for Lead In Junior Golf

TEMPE, Ariz. — Ben Garner of Lake Forest shot a two-under-par 70 on Saturday to tie for the first-round lead at the Ping Phoenix Junior Championship golf tournament.
Garner is tied with John Mercer of Mesa, Ariz. Two-time defending champion Tiger Woods of Cypress shot a 75 and is tied for 20th.
In the girls’ competition, Eunice Choi of Laguna Hills shot a 74 and is five shots behind leader Grace Park of Phoenix.
In the boys’ 13-14 division, Stephen Wagner of Mission Viejo shot 78 and is six shots behind the leader, Scott Piercy of Las Vegas.
