CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : HEMET : Bono Says He May Run for Congress

Former pop singer Sonny Bono, who lost his bid for a Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate, says he may run for the House of Representatives in 1994. Bono, the former mayor of Palm Springs, said he may challenge a fellow Republican, Rep. Al McCandless of Riverside. “If I run, I will run for Congress against Al McCandless. I like Al, but we’re from different arenas. We need fighters and non-traditional people . . . people from the streets who are not as polished,” Bono told members of the Hemet-San Jacinto Republican Women’s Club Federated on Wednesday.
