Winning Team: A new musical from the Pulitzer Prize-winning team of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine will take shape this fall in a closed workshop at New York’s Lincoln Center. But Lapine said the full production may still debut at the La Jolla Playhouse, where he is scheduled to direct the world premiere of his new play, “Luck, Pluck and Virtue,” this summer. The Sondheim collaboration is based on both the 19th-Century Italian novel, “Fosca,” and “Muscle,” Sam Fussell’s autobiographical book about a young man en route to Yale who drops out to become a bodybuilder.
