Notre Dame Claims Wild-Card Softball Game

Crista Corpening pitched a two-hitter and struck out nine to lead Notre Dame High to a 4-0 victory over Highland in a Southern Section Division III wild-card softball game at Notre Dame on Wednesday.
Notre Dame (12-11) will play at San Dimas in a first-round game Friday.
Lesley Feldman’s two-out single in the first inning drove in Michelle Gallo with the only run Corpening (10-8) needed, and Sharon Marciniak and Lourdes Slinsky had RBI singles in the fifth and sixth.
In another wild-card softball game:
Nordhoff 4, Montclair Prep 0--The Rangers combined two hits, an error, a passed ball and a walk for three first-inning runs in a Division V game at Nordhoff.
Kasey Brown (7-7) pitched a one-hitter. Nordhoff (10-11) will play at Crossroads on Friday.
