Air Force Asks McDonnell Douglas to Repay $37 Million: Due to cost overruns on the C-17 cargo jet program, the Air Force asked McDonnell Douglas to repay $37 million, the company told the Securities and Exchange Commission. Meanwhile, the company said, the government is also withholding contract progress payments of $281 million through last month, up from $160 million as of the end of last year. The Defense Contract Management Command increased its cost estimates for the C-17 by $80 million earlier this year. The program is about $1.3 billion over budget.
