WAC Honors Calcante

Cal State Northridge softball player Beth Calcante was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year on Monday.
Calcante, a junior left fielder from Newbury Park High School, led the conference in runs batted in (30), triples (three), slugging percentage (.773) and hits per game (1.23) in WAC play. She ranked as the conference’s second-leading hitter with a .360 average.
First baseman Tamara Ivie and pitchers Kathy Blake and Amy Windmiller were named to the All-WAC team.
Northridge baseball player Greg Shepard was named the WAC Player of the Week Monday, the first Matador to receive the honor.
