SOUTHERN SECTION PLAYOFFS : BASEBALL : Fountain Valley Is Lone Orange County School to Be Seeded

Only one Orange County team was seeded in the six divisions in baseball pairings announced Monday. Fountain Valley is seeded-fourth in Division I. League champions Esperanza and Mater Dei also were in Division I but were not seeded. Esperanza was the No. 1 ranked team in Orange County and Mater Dei was ranked fourth.
Irvine, which reached the Division II title game last season and won the Sea View League co-championship, was not seeded in Division III. The Vaqueros were ranked third in the county.
Cypress got a little more respect this season in Division I. The Centurions, who finished third in the Empire League, play at Fontana in the first round on Friday.
