1st-Quarter Profits Up 27%, Pollution Research Says

Pollution Research & Control Corp., a maker of air pollution measuring instruments, said its first-quarter profit rose 27% from a year earlier on a 3% increase in sales.

For the three months ended March 31, the Glendale-based company said its net income climbed to $303,000 from $239,000, while revenue rose to $1.63 million from $1.58 million.

Pollution Research also said it posted a $1.1-million net loss for all of 1992, compared with a profit a year earlier of $601,000.

The company’s 1992 sales rose 24%, to $6.2 million from a restated $5 million for 1991. Pollution Research said it restated its 1991 sales to reclassify $1.9 million of sales of products unrelated to its pollution-monitoring equipment business.

As previously reported, Pollution Research blamed its outside auditors, Deloitte & Touche, for the delay in reporting its 1992 results. Companies typically report their results within 90 days of the end of the period. Pollution Research said Deloitte & Touche had not completed its work by then.
