Cheesecake Factory Says Quarterly Profits Doubled

Cheesecake Factory Inc., a Calabasas-based restaurant operator, said its first-quarter profit nearly doubled from a year earlier on a 19% gain in revenue.
For the 13 weeks ended April 4, Cheesecake Factory’s net income jumped to $896,614 from $464,785 in last year’s first quarter, while revenue climbed to $13.8 million from $11.6 million.
The company also said its same-store sales--those of its restaurants open at least a year--rose 3% from the year-earlier period.
Cheesecake Factory completed its initial public stock offering last September. Its financial results were reported on a pro forma basis, that is, as though the company had been publicly held for at least a year.
