Jobless Rate Drops: New Zealand’s jobless rate, as measured by the main indicator, the household labor force survey, fell to 9.8% in the three months ended March 31, from 10.1% in the previous quarter, the government said. Officials said it was the first quarter since March, 1991, that the rate has fallen below 10%. But the drop resulted from fewer people seeking work rather than from more people getting jobs, the government said. The latest figures compare to an unemployment rate of 10.7% a year earlier.
