Sport: Softball
Position: Pitcher
Class: Junior
Harrelson didn’t have much preparation for the tough Sunset League pressure she has been put under the last two weeks. A seldom-used backup until Danny Rodriguez left the team, Harrelson had pitched only a couple of early season games and a few mop-up innings in league. “She was a nervous wreck but she just absolutely came through great,” Fountain Valley Coach Cary Baker said. Tuesday, she didn’t allow a hit in the Barons’ 1-0 victory over Huntington Beach. The only runner reached base on Harrelson’s error in the third. Friday, she held Marina--then-ranked No. 1 in the county and previously unbeaten in the league--to a first-inning run in a 2-1 Fountain Valley victory.
