A retired sheriff’s sergeant, Thomas Gordon, has become the 16th member or former member of the Sheriff’s Department to be convicted in connection with a drug money-skimming scandal involving deputies on drug enforcement teams.
After a three-week trial, Gordon was found guilty of filing a false income tax return, but the federal jury was hung on a count of laundering money. He could receive a maximum three-year jail term. A total of 25 deputies or former deputies have been indicted in the federal cases.
