He Was First in Last Place

I had to laugh when I read the April 29 article on David J. Zyskowski’s last place in the new phone book.
One year, when I was attending the Santa Barbara Writers Conference, I submitted an “Opening Sentence” that won a first prize. The name I came up with was the following, off the top of my head: “Zyron Z. Zyobia, always last in the telephone book, always the last one called on in class, always the last one to volunteer, always the last one to spot a new trend, was first on a long list of losers.”
I noted that Mr. Zyskowski’s name would have beat me out in the telephone book. Anyway, I hope he wouldn’t be on a “long list of losers.”
I enjoyed the article immensely.
