In the Century League boys’ swimming finals:
Foothill wins--Tim Chaix of Foothill, who shared swimmer-of-the-meet honors with Santa Ana Valley’s Todd Wines, set a league record in the 200 freestyle (1:44.18), won the 100 butterfly (52.72) and swam on both of the Knights’ winning freestyle relay teams. Chaix broke the 200 freestyle record of 1:44.34, set by Foothill’s Gary Strachan in 1985.
Foothill had 497 points; second-place Villa Park had 438.
In the Century League girls’ swimming finals:
Villa Park wins--Catherine Pharris won the 100 backstroke (1:00.58) and was second in the 100 freestyle (55.28) and Michelle Morris finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:24.45) and 100 butterfly (1:02.39) to lead Villa Park, which outscored second-place Foothill, 404-373.
El Modena’s 200 relay team won in a record time of 1:45.16, to break the mark of 1:46.85 set by El Modena last year.
In the Freeway League boys’ swimming finals:
Sunny Hills wins--Carlo Franzia of Sunny Hills won the 200 freestyle (1:50.25) and the 500 freestyle (5:04.45).
In the Freeway League girls’ swimming finals:
Sunny Hills wins--Lisa Liu won the 50 freestyle (26.17) to help Sunny Hills to the title.
