Elizabeth Kubler-Ross might well have concluded that, confronted by a dying myth, Prof. La Belle is into heavy denial. Shakespeare is healthy and still lives in Stratford because he has always been healthy and living in Stratford. The earth is still flat and is at the center of the universe, never mind Galileo.
It’s just not good enough any more. Scorn and unanswering dismissal, even from tenured scholars, won’t answer the ancient and persisting doubts about the Stratford authorship. De Vere may not have been the true author but the evidence continues to grow and cannot be ignored.
