Second-Guessing in Waco Tragedy

I never thought in a million years that I would ever be in agreement with anything ever written by Alexander Cockburn, but I find myself in complete agreement with him (“From Salem to Waco, by Way of the Nazis,” Column Left, April 27).

I am chillingly reminded of another observation made by Sen. Henry Clay before the Senate on March 14, 1834: “The arts of power and its minions are the same in all countries and in all ages. It marks its victim; denounces it; and excites the public odium and the public hatred, to conceal its own abuses and encroachments.”
