Two girls, ages 11 and 14, were killed in a drive-by shooting Sunday in Walnut Park, authorities said.
The girls were walking down Beach Street at about 1 a.m. when they were struck by gunfire from a dark-colored van, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Stoneman.
Investigators believed that the attack was gang-related, but no arrests have been made and no motive was known, Stoneman said.
Eileen Fuentes, 11, and Celia Luquin, 14, died at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, he said.
In an unrelated attack, a 13-year-old boy was critically wounded and a 16-year-old was hit in the arm in a shooting Saturday night in Arleta, authorities said. Neither was identified.
