In another NAIA District 3 men’s basketball game:
Westmont 88, Christ College Irvine 77--Agustin Heredia scored a team-high 15 points for the sixth-seeded Eagles, who finish at 15-15. Third-seeded Westmont improved to 18-11.
In nonconference baseball:
Christ College Irvine 8, Claremont 2--Tom Kelly gave up three hits and struck out nine in pitching a complete game for CCI (5-3-1). Jason Smith and Paul Chavez each had three hits for CCI.
Cal State Northridge 4, Chapman 1--Jason Shanahan hit a grand slam in the top of the fourth for Northridge (9-0) at Hart Park. Bob Skapik pitched a complete game, allowing only three hits and five walks while striking out three for Chapman. Trevor Rush walked with the bases loaded in the eighth to give the Panthers (7-10) their only run.
Cal State Fullerton 7, San Diego 5--Adam Millan had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs for Fullerton (7-4) at Titan Field. Derek Fahs pitched four innings for the victory, and Ted Silva pitched the final two innings, striking out five, to earn his first save. The Toreros are 9-4.
In Golden State Athletic Conference softball:
Southern California College 3-0, California Baptist 1-3--Shannon Saylor yielded seven hits to earn the victory in Game 1 for visiting SCC (5-5-2, 1-1).
